Privacy policy.

In short
- This website doesn’t set cookies and doesn’t use advertising trackers.
- If you join the newsletter, your email address goes to Substack, which sends it.
- Anything you type into the tax toolkit stays in your own browser. It isn’t sent to me.
- You can ask what I hold about you, or ask me to delete it, at any time.
Who I am
This website, fitinfinance.co.uk, is run by Usamah Majmal under the FitInFinance brand. For the personal data described here, I am the data controller.
Contact for anything about your data: email hello@fitinfinance.co.uk, or send a direct message to @taxationmadesimple on Instagram.
TaxationMadeSimple, my accountancy practice, is separate from this website. If you become a client, you’ll get its own privacy notice.
What I collect and why
| What | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter | To send you the newsletter you asked for | Consent. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email. |
| Anonymous visit statistics (pages viewed, referring site, country, device type), if analytics is switched on | To understand which pages and tools are useful | Legitimate interests. No cookies are used and you can’t be identified. |
| Technical logs kept by the hosting provider (such as IP address and browser), kept for a short time | To run the website securely and stop abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Your enquiry, if you get in touch through Work with me: your name, contact details, whether you are a sole trader or director, what you need help with, and any message | To reply to your enquiry and, if you choose, to set up an engagement | Legitimate interests, and steps you ask for before a contract |
| Messages you send me directly | To reply to you | Legitimate interests |
I don’t sell your data, and I don’t use it for automated decisions about you.
The newsletter
The newsletter is hosted on Substack. When you subscribe on this site, your email address is sent straight to Substack, and you finish signing up there. Substack handles your subscription under its own privacy policy, and may transfer data outside the UK with appropriate safeguards. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Enquiries
For now, enquiries to TaxationMadeSimple come through Instagram direct messages to @taxationmadesimple. Instagram is run by Meta, which handles messages under its own privacy policy. If an online enquiry form is added to this site, this section will name the service that stores it. Please don’t send tax references, bank details or other sensitive information. If you don’t become a client, your enquiry is deleted within 2 years.
The tax toolkit
The figures you enter into the tax toolkit, your checklist ticks and your chosen deadlines are saved only in your own browser (using “local storage”), so they’re still there next time. They are never sent to me or anyone else. To delete them, use “clear saved figures” at the top of the toolkit, which removes everything the toolkit has saved in your browser, or clear your browser’s site data. The “Reset to the guide’s example” buttons only swap your figures for the guide’s examples; they don’t delete anything.
The Google and Outlook calendar links send the deadline’s title and date to Google or Microsoft only when you click them.
Cookies and similar technology
This website doesn’t set cookies. It uses your browser’s storage only for things you ask for:
- remembering your toolkit inputs and checklist (described above);
- saving copies of pages and images so the site loads faster and works offline (a “service worker”).
These are strictly necessary for features you use, so they don’t need consent.
Other services this site uses
- Google Fonts. The typefaces load from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address to deliver them. See Google’s privacy policy.
- Analytics. If switched on, this site uses a cookie-free analytics service (Plausible Analytics or Cloudflare Web Analytics) that reports only anonymous, combined statistics.
- Hosting. The website’s host processes technical data to serve the pages.
- Links to other sites. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Substack, Linktree and GOV.UK have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
How long I keep data
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, or ask me to remove you.
- Enquiries and messages: deleted within 2 years if you don’t become a client. If you do, your engagement letter explains how long client records are kept.
- Analytics: only anonymous, combined statistics are kept.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have the right to:
- see the personal data I hold about you;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to, or restrict, how I use it;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing;
- get a copy of the data you gave me, in a common format.
To use any of these rights, email hello@fitinfinance.co.uk or send a direct message to @taxationmadesimple on Instagram. I’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new “last updated” date.
