(MY STORY)

Rebuilt through training.

After a serious accident and a period of real mental strain, training became how I rebuilt myself.

FitInFinance brings those lessons together. Strong finances reduce stress. A strong body sharpens the mind. A strong mindset keeps you consistent.

Knowledge and regular habits can help you feel more in control of your money.

0.01% better every day

0.01% better every day. Small, consistent actions compound in your finances, your training and your head.

Build the habit

  • Same day each month for your records.
  • Tax money moved out of sight, automatically.
  • Deadlines in your calendar, with reminders.
  • One small task finished, not a big one planned.
(THE BROWN ENVELOPE)

Tax and money anxiety.

If opening a tax letter feels overwhelming, start with one small step: check the date and what it asks you to do. If tax makes you anxious, you’re not alone. I know that pattern from my own experience with anxiety. In money as in training, the way through is small, regular action.

Five steps for when you’re avoiding it

  1. 01
    Open it the same day.

Many HMRC letters are reminders or statements.

  2. 02
Find the deadline and the amount.

Your HMRC online account shows what you owe and when.

  3. 03
    Act promptly.

What happens next depends on what’s overdue and for how long. Dealing with it early usually keeps it smaller.

  4. 04
If you can’t pay, say so early.

HMRC may agree a payment plan; check your eligibility on GOV.UK.

  5. 05
    Ask for help.

An accountant, or free debt advice from Citizens Advice or MoneyHelper.

(LOOKING AFTER YOURSELF)

You don’t have to carry it alone.

If money worries are affecting your sleep, work or mental health, talk to someone: your GP, a trusted friend or a charity such as Mind.
